St Petersburg and Sarasota Redfishing In March!

Capt. Sean Hagen
March 6, 2011
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The redfish bite south of the Sunshine Skyway continues to heat up. Look for fat slot size redfish on St Petersburg and Sarasota's grass flats. Set up on the incomming tide along redfish highways and Dead stick chuncks of cut ladyfish or
mackerel for best results. During high tide conditions work mangrove shorelines and oyster bars.

If Live baits your thing, the Sunshine Skyway is holding nice white bait on the south end pier. A blacked outlive well and a few chum bats full of live greenies may be all
it takes to kick off a redfish feeding frenzy!

However, if live bait does not do the trick artificals are always an option. Artificals cover alot of realestate and are a very effective tool when locating redfish. Often an angler will hook a few redfish on artificals (in one specific area) and the bite will turn off. Okay, you located the redfish, but they quit chewing, what now? switch it up, sling some live chummers. If the redfish begin to feed, keep them there by continuing to chum and begin fishing, by free-lining live bait! This how banner redfish days begin! So, next time "switch it up" and hopefully it will work for you!

Til next time have a safe & quality day on the water!
