Summertime Fishing off Anna Maria

Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The weather is hot and so is the fishing! All summer the catch and release snook has been great. Lots of small fish from 22" to 26" with an occasional for real fish up to 40 plus inches.

Best fishing is during the better tide flow dose not seem to matter to much weather it is incoming or outgoing.

Summertime is also Snappertime. I think this is my favorite fish both for fun and for dinner. There is nothing like looking behind the transom of the boat and watching the water turn red with Mangroves coming up in your chum line.

Almost any type of structure right now has a school of Mangroves on it. Docks, Range Markers, Reefs and wrecks all have fish on them right now. I have even caught a few while fishing the pot holes for reds and snook.

A pleasant surprise the past few weeks are the number of flounder coming in. Almost every trip we are getting a few nice flatties for the pan.

Reds are starting to gather in bigger schools each and every day. This fishing should just get better and better as we head into late summer and early fall.

Sometimes it is hard to get away from the schools of reds to catch anything else. What a nice problem to have!
Thank You & Good Fishing!
