Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Snook, Redfish and Sea Trout were our targeted species for the TAMCO Wounded Warriors Tournament. I had the distinct pleasure of having 3 wounded warriors onboard and enjoyed every second of the day. We departed the Tampa West Shore Yacht Club at 9 am with all 70+ boats due back at 3PM.
We made ran to Weedon Island only to find all the "Hot Spots" covered in boats. Having lived in that area for years I used my backyard knowledge and quickly found redfish action. Other boats nearby heard the cheers of my team and noticed we were on the redfish. While we didn't catch any monsters we did catch numerous solid reds pushing 30"s.

Next we started the hunt for hardest species in the Grand Slam the snook. Our first 2 stops we had our free lined white baits hammered by more reds, jacks and ladyfish but no snook. Third times a charm as we found the magic spot and had some great snook action with the biggest 32". Again no monsters but solid fish. My team had never caught a red or snook before and were doing great!

Needing trout to complete our slam we ran to a local grass flat. Drifting lush grass in 3-6' we found mackerel but no trout. Plan B fish the grass flats in front of the Westshore Yacht Club. That was the right move as we quickly caught numerous trout with the biggest measuring in at 18". Mission accomplished.
Amazing day with great guys fishing for an amazing cause.
