Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tampa Bay March Fishing Report

Hello everyone, Capt Matt here from Anna Maria, just giving a quick update. Spring fishing has been in full swing, Snook, Redfish and Trout have been phenomenal. I have had some 70 plus fishing days on Snook and Redfish, if that is a good enough indication. The Trout fishing is as good as it has ever been in my 18 years of being a charter captain. There is a ton of giant Trout.

Offshore Grouper are thick as thieve and large. It will be awesome when they come into season. The Flounder and Snapper are on the bite as well. The Flounder fishing has been the best I have ever seen which is good for me because I love to eat them. The Pelagic fish are moving in and there are some Kingfish out there now which will be getting thicker shortly, the False Albacore are thick, and there are plenty of Mackerel. I hope to be mixing some Permit in the bag soon as well.

There are a few Tarpon biting in the bay now but that is just a teaser for full on Tarpon season. I have a few days available for peak Tarpon season, May 1st thru the 3rd week of July. Let me know ASAP if you want to plan a Tarpon day.
I hope you enjoyed my quick heads up on the fishing and hoe you have a great day.
