The soaring summer temperatures have made the waters of Tampa Bay hot! Temperatures in the Tampa Bay area have steadily been in the upper 90's the last few weeks, causing the water temperature to rise up to the upper 80's. Although water temperatures in the upper 80's are a bit too hot for some of the fish, many are still biting.

Bay fishing has been a bit tough lately due to the high water temperature. Finding snook and redfish that are in cooler water is crucial right now to catching them. Currently, the bait is a bit bigger than the fish like, but that is going to change soon enough as the small bait moves back into the area. Trout fishing has remained outstanding! There are many great trout around. While trout fishing, we tend to catch an array of other fish, such as, mackerel, snapper, flounder, grouper, and sharks. Trout fishing should remain good as the smaller bait shows up.

The tarpon bite has been incredible. There are many big fish around Tampa Bay this year. So much so that I can't count the tarpon we've caught that weigh150 lbs and over, and it's just the start of the season. Late summer and early fall tarpon fishing over the last few years has been great.

Sharks, sharks, and more sharks! There are more sharks in Tampa Bay than I have ever seen before. With the right tide, shark fishing is phenomenal. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your trip today!
