Tampa Bay weather is changing!

Capt. TJ Stewart
August 24, 2011
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Although a slight cold front came through Tampa Bay recently, it didn't change the temperature much. It did however; change the wind direction, which gave us the chance to fish some different areas. Lately, the wind has been blowing pretty hard out of the west, and I have to admit that a west wind is my least favorite wind when it comes to fishing. Normally during this time of the year we have an east wind in the morning and a sea breeze in the afternoon.

Fall is on its way so we are going to see more changes in the weather. Fall is definitely one of my favorite times of year to fish. The action is just as good or better than the spring and there isn't as many people fishing! Over the past few years we have had some awesome fishing in the fall, and I'm sure this year will be just as good.

We've had more tarpon boat side this year than in the past, and tarpon season isn't over yet. However, the redfish bite has been a little slower than in the past few years. It just goes to show you that every year fishing changes. The good news is that it's a big ocean and there will always be fish to catch…We just have to adapt to catch them.
