Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tampa, FL Fishing Report June 18, 2014
Whitebait - Scaled Sardines aka Pilchards, Dines, Greenbacks are hard to find on the flats in the Middle and Upper parts of Tampa Bay. The small Quarter to Fifty Cent size Pinfish are plentiful.
Clients are catching slot size Redfish around the oyster bars and the mangrove shoreline. Some nice upper slot size Trout are in the skinny water and running with some of the Mullet schools
Blacktip Sharks and Spanish Mackerel are biting in the Middle of the bay. Anchor just outside the markers and throw out a chum block. Adding some cut up bait into the chum slick will have them coming to the back of the boat.
Small Shrimp,Cut pieces of Shrimp and Greenback have landed anglers with there limit of Mangrove Snapper along the Rock piles that line the shipping channel. Black Sea Bass are in same area, most are on the smaller size around 10 inches with a few 12 to 13 inch size were invited home for dinner.
Going back through my log book, bait was hard to find back in June & July of 2010. But when it did arrive it lasted well into the first part of Winter. Look for the diving birds. Also Keep An Eye In The Sky for the Thunder Storms that can pop up anytime this time of the year. Reel Till U Feel.
