Capt. TJ Stewart
June 13, 2017
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

It is rainy season in Tampa Bay. Rainy season typically runs from mid May to mid October, resulting in frequent summer rainfall. Certain fish prefer certain weather over others and different fish react differently to certain kinds of weather or air pressure, but lately, the rain has affected our ability to fish more than the bite.

Tarpon, tarpon and more tarpon are here in Tampa Bay and down in Boca Grande. We have been catching some of the biggest tarpon that I have ever seen and many of them. We still have a few more weeks to catch tarpon in Boca Grande before they leave the area and head to Tampa Bay. It is just the beginning of tarpon season in Tampa Bay.

The snook bite has been great too. We have caught great fish in great numbers in the passes and outer bars on low water. The redfish bite has been a bit tough. It has been hit or miss, depending on the day. We have caught some good sized fish, but not in great numbers. The redfish bite should get better as summer goes on.
