Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tarpon, tarpon, and more tarpon! The past several weeks have been all about the awesome silver kings, but we've also had some great snook and trout fishing. Redfish, on the other hand, have made us work much harder for the bite. Tarpon fishing in Tampa Bay has been pretty darn good. Lots of fish showed up in the area after the last full moon. If this batch of tarpon is anything like they were last year, the bite is not going to slow down; it's just going to get better.

I have been spending a lot of time catching and releasing tarpon down in Boca Grande lately, and boy oh boy, we have caught a lot of these great fish this year both with charters and in the Professional Tarpon Tournament Series. We did, however, have many great fish "get off," but we still managed to end the season with a bang! We, Team Cast Away Charters, Inc. powered by EdgeWater Boats, won the Professional Tarpon Tournament's Tarpon Cup Championship with a 130 pound tarpon and a 170 pound tarpon, for a combined weight of 300 pounds.

Although Boca Grande Pass always produces a great day of tarpon fishing, it is time to get back to fishing in the great Tampa Bay area. It is great to catch tarpon, but it is also nice to catch snook, redfish, and trout too! Fortunately, you can do that in the great Tampa Bay! TJ Stewart has the knowledge and intuition to find and hook the big ones – the battle will be up to you. Imagine the thrill and the power felt when a two hundred pound tarpon breaches the surface of the sky blue waters of Tampa Bay attempting to cast away the hook from his mouth. The
