Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Change, change, and more change is happening in Tampa Bay. It seems as though the fish move everyday. Because the fish are moving into different areas each day, we've had to change our way of fishing quite a bit. For example, we've had to put a weight on our line to keep the bait down so the fish can eat it. Heck, we've even had to fish with dead bait to get the fish to bite.

Who would of thunk it… that you would have to actually kill your bait to catch a fish? Sometimes, the bait needs to be so close to the mangroves that you're better off to just throw it up there dead. Many times, a redfish will eat dead bait in the mangroves instead of swimming out of the mangroves to eat it. We have even had to even kill bait to get the tarpon to bite at times.

Although it's not officially summer, it sure seems like it is. When the water gets as warm as it is, the fish just seem to slow down a bit. Until you hook them, of course. Once you get them to bite, well, it's game on! That is just one of the many reasons that fishing with a guide can help you have a lot more success with getting the bite and landing the big ones!

It's that time of the year…The time of year where we head south to Boca Grande, FL. to do a little tarpon fishing. The Professional Tarpon Tournament Series begins May 21st and ends June 19th. This year we are team Cast Away Charters, Inc. in the women's tournament and team Edgewater Power Boats in the men's tournament… look for us on T.V. in July!
