Tarpon Springs - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tarpon Springs fishing guide Capt. Rich Knox of Absolute Florida Flats Fishing reports excellent spring fishing this week before the impending coldest front of the year! Snook fishing was beginning to happen on a regular basis, along with Red-fish, Spotted Sea Trout and some well received school's of Pompano on the inshore fishing flats of New Port Richey nearby the Anclote power plant. whitebait was needed to fool the Snook, select live shrimp was the red-fish trigger, and smaller pieces of fresh shrimp on a doc's goofy 1/8 th oz. jig in yellow for the nice Pompano, and the Spotted Sea Trout prefer the whitebait but will take a properly presented live shrimp or pinfish. some Clearwater Fl. shallow water fishing inshore flats have been holding trophy Red-fish, the grass flats of St. Joeseph sound are holding the big Trout and most creek mouths, bayou's, rivers, and warm water deep residential canals with dark bottom's are holding the Snook. when this Alberta clipper passes through and the water temperatures return to the mid- sixties, the action will heat back up !
