Tarpon Season

Capt. Jeff Legutki
June 15, 2010
Ten Thousand Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well it has been a great tarpon season to say the least. Sorry for my lack of submission with my reports.
To say the least, all my clients who came down for the season did really well. I want to thank you all for participating and fishing with me. For those who didn't make it, well hopefully there is next year.
We landed a lot of tarpon this season. As well as my largest of my guiding career thanks to the angling expertise of Dave Teper, who landed a monster 189 lb. beast. Fish was 89 inches long and 43 inches around. Dave had it boat side in 25 minutes. It was probably quicker than that but I staked out the boat to land the fish, and the fish pulled so hard he broke my push pole.
Giant to say the least, a very impressive catch.
No sign of oil and I believe the Paradise Coast will receive the least amount of impact due to the Loop Current.....Thank God.
Snook fishing at night under the lights has been superb, non stop action.
At first light fishing current with top water poppers have been exciting with explosive strikes from tarpon, snook, and giant jacks. It is such a blast to see the strike during the golden hour of the rising sun.

Everyone pray for this man made disaster to stop. Everyone at BP need to be shot on sight, and everyone should boycott them.
Heading to the Keys in July to film for Permit with Worldangling's next movie. Excited to be down there again fishing and hanging with the elite fly fisherman.
Tight lines and screaming drags to all.
Capt. Jeff

Ten Thousand Islands Fishing Forecast:

Hot hot hot. First light is everything, and sunset through the night can be just as good. Everything is willing to eat when the heat subsides.

Target Species:

Anything that eats a fly, especially tarpon and snook!

More Fishing Reports:

Come fish the 10,000 Islands and the Everglades National Park for tarpon, snook, red fish and more with either flyrods or light tackle. All artificial no live bait, geared for two anglers. Fly through the shallows in a Hellsbay Whipray. Fishing with the finest equiptment like Sage fly rods and Bauer reels or St. Croix spin rods and Quantum reels. Sight fishing is my passion! Target the toughest saltwater species in mere inches of water and fool them into eating year round.
