Warming Waters

Ten Thousand Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

The water temp is on the rise and so is the action! Spring is in full effect and this year is off to a much better start than the last two years. Calm conditions and consistent weather has blessed us, turning the fish on!

The big three ( red fish, snook, and tarpon) are all cooperating and are targetable.

The tarpon have started to move into the islands and laying up in special little bays! There is even more off the beaches in big schools migrating north! Flies and plugs are taking there share in the hands of a skilled angler. While live and cut bait works wonders for the novice.

Snook have been busting out of their winter haunts and have started feeding with aggression as the water temps rise. I have seeing a great number of healthy size snook sunning themselves and cruising shorelines. Everywhere! From Naples down tho the Everglades, inside and outside.

Reds as well have been growing in numbers in select coves. The barrier islands over the hard bottoms had been good for crab imitations, where in the muddy coves the muddlers in black or tan have been the goto!

Aside from the big three inshore, EVERYTHING is biting. The next three monthes should be off the hook!! Pompano, trout, and tripletail are out over the grass flats. Mackeral, jacks, ladyfish, snapper, bluefish, and bonita will keep a bend in the rod.
And offshore, the kings are in full swing! Permit are starting to show off the wrecks so make sure you have a few live crabs. And the big brown bomber, the cobia are available as well.

This is the BEST time of year to be fishing in this region! Call and book a trip and experience some of the most exciting fishing in the saltwater world. Until next time, tight lines and screaming drags to all who chose to go!

Target Species:

ANYTHING THAT EATS A FLY

More Fishing Reports:

Come fish the 10,000 Islands and the Everglades National Park for tarpon, snook, red fish and more with either flyrods or light tackle. All artificial no live bait, geared for two anglers. Fly through the shallows in a Hellsbay Whipray. Fishing with the finest equiptment like Sage fly rods and Bauer reels or St. Croix spin rods and Quantum reels. Sight fishing is my passion! Target the toughest saltwater species in mere inches of water and fool them into eating year round.
