Titusville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing Report 8/28/06

Space Coast fishing report from Spotted Tail, 8/28/06

First off, we have upcoming events:

-On Sept. 30 the annual Kids Fishing Day will happen. If you've always wanted to take a kid or two fishing, now is your big chance! Hit this link http://www.spottedtail.com for more information. Or call me at 407.977.5207. Or email me at [email protected]

Monday morning I fished the Econ. It was simply lovely, and I didn’t see another soul. Fishing was fair, with the usual sunfish slam and an eight or nine inch largemouth bass to boot, all on rubber spiders. The fish there are small, but it sure is enjoyable fishing.

Tuesday I went fishing in the Colorado River with my long time friend Ken Shannon. We fished several pieces of water between Kremmling and Granby, Colorado. Neither of us had waders and let me tell you that is some seriously cold water. It hurt at first but once our feet and legs were numb then it was OK! We tried both dry and wet flies and had several bites but neither of us stuck a fish. Fishing in the Rocky Mountains was quite a change from the Econ or the Indian River Lagoon, spectacular country, and fish or no fish it was really, really fun. See the photos at http://www.spottedtail.com

Wednesday morning in Granby the thermometer said 39 degrees. After a cup of joe we began our morning fishing the Frasier River. The section we fished was right in Granby and it was another beautiful piece of water. I had one bite and missed it, and Ken didn’t get a bite. From there we went to Willow Creek. We walked along the bank a way looking for fish and didn’t see any, so in spite of the fact the stream and the valley were both stunningly beautiful we went to our last stop, Arapaho Creek. It may be getting old when I say it was simply gorgeous, but it was. I had numerous bites there; the river was full of fish. I missed every one of them. Ken had six or so strikes on a hopper pattern and released two rainbows, a little eight inch fish and quite a nice fish of 12 inches or so. Ken said, “That fish fought really hard; it jumped about 12 times, just great!”

I really stink at trout fishing but I sure love doing it. Trout live in such wonderful places and are so lovely themselves that I would try to catch one any chance I get.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I was at the Fly Tackle Retailers Show in Denver. The latest and greatest in rods, reels, lines, clothing, fly tying, etc etc etc were all on display. Although I am glad to be home the show could have gone another day. It was a great time, a great learning experience, I made some new friends, and I hope to go again next year.

Remember- life is short. GO FISHING!

Life is great and I love my work!!
