Lake Allatoona Fishing Guides Report For Jan 28

Capt. Robert Eidson
January 28, 2016
Lake Allatoona - Freshwater Fishing Report

Robert Eidson, of First Bite Guide Service 770 827-6282, reports, "The bite is very good right now—probably the best January we have seen in years. The fish and bait have moved south with the changing of the water color and the drop in temperature. Most of the fish we caught in the last couple of weeks have come within sight of the dam. Threadfins, small gizzard shad and small trout are fishing well on planer boards, flatlines and downlines. The fish are bunched up. If you catch one, you'll probably have two other pull downs at the same time. The morning bite is the best, but there are fish to be caught in the afternoon—plus it's a little warmer. As the water starts to clear and as we enter into February, look for these fish to mover farther into the creeks. Iron Hill, Stamp Creek and Kellogg's Creek will all be holding fish by mid February. Like I said earlier, this is some of the best winter time fishing I have seen in years. Now that deer season is over, you may want to dust off your fishing gear and head to the lake. There is a limited topwater bite on Allatoona right now, but it only lasts about 20 minutes at sun up. Trolling has been very slow for the past few days. Look for it to pick back up as the water clears."
