Fall Fishing on Lake Lanier

Capt. Shane Watson
October 17, 2012
Lake Lanier - Freshwater Fishing Report

Shane Watson Guide Service Fishing Report. Fall is here on Lake Lanier and the stripers are busting on the surface most mornings and late afternoons. When they are on the surface, a Redfin, a Super Spook, a Sammie, or a Spro Dawg will all work on these aggressive fish. A leadhead fluke and a white bucktail will also work. Freelined bluebacks are always a good choice in this situation. When the stripers have not been on the surface, we've been catching some on leadcore and on a downline. A lot of your success right now depends on how active the fish are, how long they are staying up on the surface, and the skill level of the person doing the casting. Look for this top water pattern to get stronger over the next 4 to 6 weeks. The crappie fishing has been good for our guides using minnows and crappie jigs. The weather is great out there, cool mornings and warm afternoons. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service, Hammond's Fishing Center, Carolina Skiff Boats, and Batteries Plus. Good Fishing and We Appreciate Your Business.
