Lake Lanier - Freshwater Fishing Report

Shane Watson Guide Service Report (02-25-11). Several of our group spent most of the last week in Miami for my boat sponsor Carolina Skiff. The show, the weather, and the Miami scene was great. We were there to promote the new 2300 Elite SS and their new line of deck boats. While we were gone, we had boats out on guide trips everyday. Since getting back, the striper fishing on my boat the last couple of mornings has been really good. The stripers were up shallow and the blowups on freelined bluebacks were amazing. We have finally made it thru winter and the water temps have risen 7 or 8 degrees since last week before we left for Miami. This increase has the stripers moving back in the creeks and has got their metabolism fired backup again. Your best bet is to freeline bluebacks, cast bucktails and Spro Mc Sticks to as many banks and docks as possible. There are stripers in the middle to the back of most every creek on the lake right now. Some mornings they have been rolling on top, some mornings they have not. If you don't see them on top, don't worry, many of the fish we've caught the last couple of trips have been blind pulling of shallow in creeks. For us, freelined bluebacks are out producing trout and gizzard right now. It is a great time of the year to be out there, the stripers are firing back up and the weather is great. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service 770-889-5549, Hammond's Fishing Center, and Carolina Skiff Boats. Good Fishing.
