Lake Oconee - Freshwater Fishing Report
June 30, 2009
From the last time I posted a report until now the fishing on Lake Oconee has changed dramatically, to the point that it has surprised me along with many other anglers.
We have been hauling in catches of 10 to 20 fish for half day trips. The bait is everywhere and usually can be caught by throwing the net one time, and the fish are hungry.
If you look at the last report, it was very sad. Algae blooms, shad runs and the moons were all lining up to make our late spring fishing a nightmare. That has all changed.
The weird thing is the fish are not showing up in the same places they historically have been. The areas like flagpole point, hayfieds at sugar creek, have not held the fish as in years past. Don't know why, they just are not there. We are finding them up the river, Richland Creek and other places where you typically would not look.
If you want to go out and catch instead of fish, give us a call. It is going to be fun these next few weeks.
