Fishing is great on Lake Oconee

Lake Oconee - Freshwater Fishing Report

November 10, 2009

Water temp 66

Water is stained and Ida is raining on us today!

Not really sure how Ida is going to effect us, but just before she showed up the fishing was really getting awesome. There are more schools of bait showing up than we have ever seen this time of the year. In some coves you pull into they will literally jump up on the bank with the boat wash.

All of this bait has put the fish in feed mode and we are catching some stripers and lots of crappie! Just a few days ago one of our anglers found the crappie and for three hours he couldn't keep a bait in the water. Fish ranging from a pound to a pound and a half were coming over the front of the boat everything time a bait was put in front of them.

We also have had several anglers finding stripers chasing bait and schooling in the middle of the lake. You can throw Sassy Shads or small flukes at them with incredible results. Of course, live bait is always a great option as we are putting them on downlines and flatlines.

It is just starting to get great and if the rain doesn't hurt us too much, the next few weeks are going to be off the chain!

Tight Lines
