Red Hot Stripers on Lake Oconee

Capt. Doug Nelms
May 1, 2017
Lake Oconee - Freshwater Fishing Report

It has finally started like gang busters on Lake Oconee. With this warm, cold, warm again weather, the fish have just really been timid this early season. Not any more!

We are catching loads of striped bass and crappie (depending on which trip you choose to fish) and the bite has been happening all day long. Live bait is the ticket right now, and we will begin throwing artificial baits really soon. If you want to book a trip, give us a call at 770 354 0300 www.bigfishheads.com

Doug is a licensed USCG Captain and has been guiding over 14 years. His specialty is trophy Striped Bass, and huge Crappie during certain months. His boat is a Ranger 2300 Bay Series powered by a 225 Yamaha 4-stroke motor. It is spacious and can fish up to 6 people! During the hot summer months he heads to the Chattahoochee River to pursue monster Striped bass. He fishes from a custom jet boat, built exclusively for fishing the river. BigFishHeads Guide service operates year round.
