Water Temp 63
I think the nasty weather has finally went away and the fish have caught on fire. It seems like every weekend for more than a month has been filled with bad weather of some kind. From floods to record snows, the weekends have not be good to anglers, but it looks like that is all about to change.
This is the time of year that we catch so many big fish at the dam. The stripers and hybrids go on their annual spawn and they are showing up in big numbers right now. This should be the year for 13 pound stripers as these fish are reaching the 5 year old mark. Last week someone reported catching a striper that weighed 15 pounds. I wasn't there, didn't see it, but I can't say that it could not happen.
Live shad is the bait of choice! Down-lining or flat-lining these baits will produce some awesome strikes. I am talking about watching the bait get blown out of the water. It is so exciting! If you can catch GA PWR moving water, either generating or pumping back, you are set for some great action.
This bite should continue for a few more weeks as the weather warms and the fish finish their spawn. I have a few dates left to fill and if you are interested in getting on some monsters, give me a call.
