Foggy morning fishing

Capt. Jeff Stokes

St. Simons Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing today was pretty slow even though the water looked great in most places and water temp was a nice 67 degrees. All together we ended up with only 6 trout and a few nice redfish. Most of the fish were caught in 8ft of water on live shrimp under a popping cork and Berkley Gulp Shrimp pearl with an orange tail. We covered a lot of area this morning we tried fishing deep, shallow flats, fast moving current and slow moving current not one thing seemed to hold the fish better than the other. I talked to several other people who fished St Simons sound and the surrounding areas and they had the same reports on fishing that I had although I did here of some better numbers of trout being caught on the north end or St Simons.
