Dularge - Saltwater Fishing Report

Always a good time fishing with Kirk Breaux. Kirk brought Stephanie Pousson with us to join in on the fun!! We departed from the Lodge at day break and found the trout busting shrimp at our first stop. The bite wasn't fast n furious but all trout were keepers going 13-16 inches. Once the bite tapered out we were on the move. Our second stop found shrimp skipping across the water running for their lives. We had trout pulling down our corks every-cast but they were short striking the baits. Kirk hates throwing corks, so he switched to a double rig and hit double keepers instantly (first time in over a week we catch on double rigs). Green Hornet Matrix Shad was the ticket on the double rigs, as 13-17 inch trout were hitting the K2. Under a cork the best two baits were Endura Shrimp and the 'Kamikaze' Vortex Shad. Kirk wanted to catch some reds, so we left the trout to find some reds. We hit the shallow ponds and within the first 3 minutes had a double hook up, Stephanie and I had our drags screaming!! We hooked a few more reds then the sky darkened. We cranked up and headed back to the Lodge with a nice box of trout and reds. Thanks again Kirk as it's always a pleasure fishing with you.
Lower Dularge is heating up and the trout are showing up every where in the interior lakes. With the cold front coming down on Saturday the bite should continue to get better. Dates are booking up quickly!!
