Venice - Saltwater Fishing Report

April 30 2013 report
The Redfishing around the Venice, Louisiana area has been going good most of the time, but some of the time has been in the "search" mode. We find ourselves constantly fishing different areas based on the conditions for the day, as far as wind and sea conditions. Every day it seems we have to decide to do it the hard way or the easy way. I am always trying to figure out whether I am going about the easy way or the hard way. I do my best to locate my boat where the fish are biting, and where we can fish in an area calm enough to be able to fish in some comfort, We have to go to different areas and find new fish to catch every day. Thankfully, I have had some hard fishing clients here lately from Georgia, Texas, Colorado, and New York. Just this last couple of weeks I have had this diverse group of folks down to the lodge for fishing. Sometimes the fish bite real good , other times we have to keep tossing those lures out there in the muddy water trying to figure out where they are. The popping cork and the rattle trap have been the best lures to get strikes. We have had several Redfish over thirty pounds since my last report, and many over twenty pounds. We have not caught an undersized fish in recent memory.
Everyone has said they have enjoyed staying at the lodge. We have been eating good, and having a few drinks in the evening. Coffee and breakfast in the morning, then fishing hard all day. Some of my guests have already booked for next year. I am glad everyone has had a good time fishing and hanging out down here. Good thing that I have good help. The kind of help that knows how to "do things the easy way, not the hard way". We all need bumper stickers on our trucks and boats that say, "We can do this the easy way, or the hard way". Figure it out for your day.
I have a lot going on in May, and I don't care if the river is rising. The fish are here, so I must locate them. Later
Check out my website to see "ray of sunshine", Neal Ford, holding a 33 pound Redfish he caught last week. Neal always does things the "easy way".
