Venice - Saltwater Fishing Report

Looks like the weather has got us landlocked at least until Thurs. We have had a lot of unfavorable weather in the past couple of weeks which has only allowed us to get out about half the time we would normally be able to. But, when we can get out there the fishing is excellent if you like tuna fishing. They do get a little finicky at times, lately timing has been everything. On Sat. I had the Cinginilli crew from Tennessee. They wanted to mix it up some but mostly concentrate on bottom fishing. We started out chasing tuna at a couple of close in spots that I had caught them the day before. No tuna action whatsoever for us. So we went bottom fishing for A.J., Mangroves, Grouper, and Cobia. The only thing that bit good for us was the A.J.'s. We did follow that up with some mangroves and one scamp grouper, but the fish box certainly did not show much for how much time and effort was put in. We stunk it up pretty good. Definitely should have spent the day chasing tuna. Capt. Bob had Cade Lafleur and friends from Georgia. They had a good day going 3 for 5 on Yellowfin tuna. The largest was right at 101lbs. Capt. Josh had the best day with George Harris and his son catching 9 yellowfin tuna but only keeping 6. He said the bite was on just as fast as he could get the lines out. We still have open days this month and next, so if you want to get into some late summer tuna fishing now is the time to go. Fuel prices have dropped considerably which will help take some pressure of the wallet. Looks like next day out is Thurs. will report after the weekend.
