Venice - Saltwater Fishing Report

Amberjack Alley!
The offshore fishing out of Venice, La. has been very good the past couple of weeks. We have been catching a lot of mixed bags which include Amberjack, Tuna, Wahoo, Dolphin, Rainbow Runners, and Cobia. The weather has also been very good, but it usually is this time of year.
Last Monday, we took out Mathew Bell, who chartered us to take him out and bend some of his rods. Mr. Bell builds fishing rods and sells them to big companies across America. He brought along 3 of the major buyers from Quantum fishing products. Quantum who mostly sells inshore tackle is going to start selling offshore fishing equipment. Mr. Bell wanted to prove to the buyers at Quantum that they should buy his rods and we intended to help him do that.
Mr. Bell could not have had a better day to test his prototype fishing rods for Quantum. They caught 12 Blackfin tuna(15-25lbs.), 1 Yellowfin tuna(30lbs.), and 3 Amberjack over 50 lbs. Also, just for a little extra bending power, they caught 3 Hammerheads over 250lbs. just to make sure the rods could handle it. I am sure you will be seeing them in the stores soon with the Quantum label on the rods.
Overall, our offshore fishing has been good. Our Snapper season opened up this morning so we will be catching a lot of mixed bags. The mixed bags will include Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi, Marlin, Snapper, Amberjack, Cobia, Grouper, Mackerel, and the occasional unidentifiable fish.
