Venice - Saltwater Fishing Report

Chickens for Tuna
The offshore fishing out of Venice, La. has been as good as it gets. We have been catching plenty of Red Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Cobia, Amberjack, Grouper, Tuna, and Dolphin. The weather has finally started to cooperate so we have had plenty of calm weather days.
This past Tuesday (5-28-02) we had Kent Horton and his friend Paul down from Alabama to get in on some of the world class yellowfin tuna action that we have down here in Venice. We had trouble catching our regular live bait which are hardtails, so we went to a grass patch caught a handful of chicken dolphin and hooked them up. They worked very good. We ended up catching 3 yellowfin that weighed in at 130lbs., 70lbs. and 65lbs. After the 130lber. came in an hour and a half after they hooked it they were ready to head to the house.
The fishing has been excellent, if you are thinking about going fishing down in the Venice, La. area do not hesitate.
