Venice - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hot Summer Louisiana Tuna Action!
The yellowfin tuna have been putting a hurting on all of our customers. It is truly amazing to watch a 130lb. tuna make a full grown man shake from muscle failure. The tuna have been biting and we are catching them in big numbers.
Most of the Tuna are coming off of the floaters and rip lines that are off our coast line. We have been catching them at night on top-water plugs, like the Tsunami. During the day we are catching them on hardtails and ballyhoo. Nothing is better than watching a 100lb.+ tuna come 5ft. out of the water with your bait in his mouth.
The rig fishing has also been very productive for Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, and Cobia. The cobia this year have been thick. On the average we are catching 3-4 per trip. Most of them are 30-40lbs. with a couple over 60lbs. The amberjack are once again proving to be the easiest fish in the Gulf to catch. Limits are met easily using live bait.
Till Next Time,
Capt. Damon McKnight
