Louisiana - Venice & the Gulf of Mexico

Capt. Damon McKnight
June 23, 2003
Venice - Saltwater Fishing Report

Bad Weather--Good Fishing

It has been a while since our last report. The weather in South Louisiana has been less than desireable for almost two months now. We finally got a little break in the sea conditions and the fishing was incredible.

This past week has produced plenty of Yellowfin Tuna and Dolphin offshore. Around the rigs all the Red snapper, Amberjack, and Cobia you want. The tuna have been averaging 40-60lbs., this is a little small but they are still very fun to catch.

Yesterday we had Chris Guidry and friends down to get in on some incredible offshore fishing action. We started out fishing the rigs. They caught plenty of Cobia and Mangrove snapper for the day. The biggest Cobia was 30lbs. and the Snapper have been averaging about 10-12lbs.
