Louisiana - Venice & the Gulf of Mexico

Capt. Damon McKnight
December 31, 2003
Venice - Saltwater Fishing Report

Winter Time Tuna!

Of course it is Winter, we have only fished 1 time in the past month. The weather is brutal this time of year but not as bas as it has been. The weather has been unusually windy keeping us at the dock. It should be settling down some soon and we will be back out hopefully this week.

This time of year we catch plenty of big yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna, and wahoo. The fishing doesn't get any better for these species than during the winter months. The yellowfin average about 100lbs., the blackfin average about 20lbs. and the wahoo about 65lbs.
