Louisiana - Venice & the Gulf of Mexico

Venice - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Long Road After Katrina is Finally Coming to an end.

We have not posted a report since August 15th, 2005. Katrina hit the coast of Louisiana approximately 30-35 miles North of Venice, La on August 29th, 2006, which is where our fishing charter business was and now is again. We actually started back in early December but we still had little access to internet service. Things are improving everyday. The Venice Marina is moving along nicely and should be fully operational in about 1-2 weeks. Overnight accomodations are available. The marina store is about the only thing that is limited.

On to the fishing. The fishing as usual off of our coast has been outstanding. Plenty of big yellowfin and big wahoo are on the lump this year. So far, we have caught plenty of yellowfin and and a few wahoo. Our biggest tuna this year is a 190lber. and the biggest wahoo is a 98lber. You cant ask for much more than that. The fishing will remain good if not get better. We will be moving into our spring time pattern shortly chasing tuna, dolphin, and marlin around the floaters.
