Louisiana - Venice & the Gulf of Mexico

Venice - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing Venice, La.

We made it out the past couple of days. Tuesday was absolutely perfect weather giving us flat calm seas and a very good bite. Rick Easler and his wife joined us from South Carolina, I think one fish would have done it for this crew but they managed to haul in 1 wahoo about 60 lbs., 9 blackfin, and 1 yellow fin. They called it a day at noon. Yesterday, was a little less desirable as far as sea conditions go. We had the golding barge group down looking for tuna. The forecast was calling for some bumpy seas but not really picking up till the afternoon. It was a good 3-4ft. sea and not to bad. The fish starting biting as soon as we got the lines out. A huge wahoo was running thru the bait eating everything in site, set a line for him and immediately he took it, made a typical wahoo run and on the turn the hooked popped out. After that the guys were able to put 5 blackfin, 1 yellowfin, and 1 A.J. in the boat. We arrived at 8:00 a.m. and due to deteriorating conditions and some green people on the boat they called it at 10:00 a.m. Looks like we will be back out on Friday.
