Fishing in Downeast Maine

Penobscot Bay - Freshwater Fishing Report

AH! Spring has come and the temps are warming up. Water levels are down here in places of the Downeast area. Trolling streamer flies for LL Salmon has been fun this spring. Black Ghost and Gray Ghost tandems have been doing well. Sowed on smelts or other baits has also been working.
Your other lures such as Flash Kings, Mooselooks, and Willians are picking up a few fish also.

Catching a few brook trout. A lot of water has been stocked in the Downeast Area so check the DFI/W website to see what bodies of water has been stocked.

The water is getting warm enough so the bass are getting into the shallows to do there thing.
So all and all things are looking pretty good so far.

Keep an eye out on the weather while out on the water. In most of your bigger bodies of water the wind can come up fast and get real rough. Also starting from now on thunder storms can build up in the afternoon.
So keep a heads-up and be safe out there.

Come fish with us east of the Penobscot River, which is known as the Downeast area of Maine. This area has lots of ponds, lakes, and streams to be fished. Trolling streamer flies is one of Maine's fishing traditions. Early spring trolling for Landlocked Salmon and Trout. Troll for Togue (Lake Trout) and other fish through the summer and fall months. Plus fishing for Large or Smallmouth bass with either fly or spinning gear. I also offer icefishing trips in the winter.
