Shallow water cod and haddock on the Black Rose

Capt. Rich Antonino
April 28, 2008
Stellwagen Bank - Saltwater Fishing Report

I felt like we had old friends on board today for a nice, small shared charter. We had perfect fishing conditions, but the bite never really materialized for us. We moved around a lot--too much as it turns out. We left one spot after a few keepers, only to find out that the bite opened up wide after we left. It happens. That's one of the times having a fast boat and the ability to make big moves hurts us--we tend to make those big moves. Most of the time it works to our advantage, but this time it cost us a good bite. The fish have been feeding heavily in the morning and then filling up for a while (which turns the bite off). The fish we did catch were stuffed full of sandeels!

Target Species:

cod and haddock

We're the small charter specialists for private 1-4 person groups and shared charters. We fish where the fish are--cod/haddock on Stellwagen Bank, huge sea bass in Buzzards Bay, bluefin tuna on Stellwagen Bank, sharks off of Martha's Vineyard and Wildcat Knoll, Stripers off of Provincetown. We have a great website; visit us often and meet us as friends. We have lots of fun out there and cater to both the novice and veteran alike. Our rates are great and you don't have to get 6 people!!
