Baja Sur - Saltwater Fishing Report

REPORT FROM GARY GRAHAM'S BAJA ON THE FLY:
PROVIDING QUALITY SALTWATER FLY-FISHING 365 DAYS A YEAR IN BAJA
- THE ONLY ORVIS EXPEDITION COMPANY IN BAJA -
EAST CAPE AND MAGDALENA BAY FISHING CONDITIONS
EAST CAPE, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO
IN GENERAL: Flat calm conditions for the last few days allowed all the hotels to send their fleets in all directions. To everyone’s dismay, the dorado and tuna were few and far between. The billfish were scarce as well. Back inshore, it was pretty spectacular for those who chose to accept what the fish gods gave them. Sierra, jacks, pargo and even a few small roosterfish boosted every boat’s count into the double digits. Grab that 8-weight rod, tie on a small Sardina Sea Habit, get yourself into the fray and hang on. Late yesterday, (3/22) several boats reported good dorado catches below Las Frailes, so maybe there’s some offshore hope after all.

YELLOWFIN TUNA - A few footballs are showing up with the dorado – if we knew where the dorado are.
DORADO - A little wind and they want to play hide-and-seek.
ROOSTERFISH - Good show of the smaller guys up at El Cardonal.
JACK CREVALLE - Both beach an inshore action very good right now.
BARRILETE OR MEXICAN SKIPJACK - Fair catches from Punta Pescadero to Punta Arena.
PARGO AND CABRILLA - Rock structure between La Ribera and Punta Colorada is producing some phenomenal action.
SIERRA - Great action. Wire recommended.
