Baja Sur - Saltwater Fishing Report
EAST CAPE AND MAGDALENA BAY FISHING CONDITIONS

IN GENERAL: We had nice weather on Wed. and perfect on Thurs. I fished the
beach between La Ribera and Bartle Beach and with no wind and little swell,
conditions couldn't have been better. I caught several small jacks, three
halibut and two roosters, all on white See-Through Deceivers. Yesterday
(5/3) morning the wind began blowing a gale out of the north and fishing the
beach was almost impossible. Fishing out of a boat was even worse. This is
May isn't it? Maybe we will have try wearing strings of garlic and see if
that will make the wind go away.
AIR & SEA: Cool mornings and warm days with some high clouds.

. OFFSHORE: Seems to have slowed down a bit still some billfish and dorado.
. INSHORE: Roosters, jacks, and ladyfish as well as a few quality pargo on
the reefs.
. BEACH: La Ribera to Punta Colorada was the place to be look for the
pelicans diving in the schools of sardinia.
BILLFISH Still around, but not the groups of last week.
YELLOWFIN TUNA - Tuna, Tuna . . . who’s got the Tuna?
DORADO - A few here and there from Punta Pescadero to Las Frailes.
ROOSTERFISH - The larger fish were still out at the lighthouse even in the
wind.
JACK CREVALLE - Not the big schools, more singles and few mixed in feeding
on
the sardinia .
BARRILETE OR MEXICAN SKIPJACK - Good inshore action.
PARGO AND CABRILLA - Rancho Leonero is your best shot.
SIERRA - First week in a long time that there wasn't much action. Use clear
or opaque wire bite tippet, not the black variety.

IN GENERAL: Same old story here – plenty of wind most of the week . There
was a
fair showing of snook up near Devil’s Curve.
AIR & SEA: Clear skies with windy conditions in the afternoon.
Air Temperature 62 - 75
Water Temperature 60 - 68.
YELLOWTAIL - The entrada is the best bet.
CORVINA - A few scattered throughout the bay.
SNOOK – Devil’s Curve produced the best action this week.
HALIBUT - A good fallback if you can't find anything else.
SIERRA - Pretty slow this week.
