Baja Sur - Saltwater Fishing Report
REPORT FROM GARY GRAHAM'S BAJA ON THE FLY:

EAST CAPE AND MAGDALENA BAY FISHING CONDITIONS
EAST CAPE, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO
IN GENERAL: Fishing overall was great through Mon., but on Tues. (7/30) a
strong wind came whistling in and shut the bite off for most of the fleet.
By the time I arrived late Tues. evening, the wind had quit and Wed. dawned
with little or no wind and just a few leftover wind waves. I rode the beach
all the way to Bartle Beach and it looked promising with plenty of mullet
schools with an occasional rooster crashing them. Stretch between La Ribera
and Bartle Beach was holding some small sardina fry and the jacks had
already found them.
AIR & SEA - Partly cloudy and little breeze.

Water Temps 77 - 85
. OFFSHORE: Up until Tues. the action had been good, with blues, stripers,
and good-sized dorado providing the action.
. INSHORE: Dorado, skipjack, jacks and some quality amberjack mixed in. Saw
several hotel boats working the area a few miles outside of Scott Glenn's
house for most of the morning.
. BEACH: Only spent a few hours this morning, but the best area appeared to
be from La Ribera to Bartle Beach.
BILLFISH - Stripers, blues and more sailfish are offering a variety of shots
right now.
YELLOWFIN TUNA - Good catches through the weekend and then they disappeared
again.
DORADO - Same story – good action until Tues.
ROOSTERFISH - Still plenty of quality fish around.
JACK CREVALLE - Not finding the bigger ones, but plenty of smaller ones to
keep busy with close to the beach.
BARRILETE OR MEXICAN SKIPJACK - Plenty, just a few miles offshore.
PARGO AND CABRILLA - The reef in front of Rancho Leonero a good bet.
SIERRA - None this week.

IN GENERAL: Up in the esteros the leopard grouper put on a pretty good show
with several in the mid-teens. Later in the afternoon the halibut rounded
out the day at the sandy beach directly across from the pier.
AIR & SEA: Sunny and hot with light afternoon breezes

YELLOWTAIL - The entrance to either bay the best bet.
CORVINA - Try the bridge or Power Plant.
SNOOK - Devil's Curve and Mario's Spot both have a few to 10 pounds
HALIBUT - Plenty of smaller ones near the sandy beach across from San
Carlos.
SIERRA - No one fished for them, which I am aware of.
