EAST CAPE AND MAGDALENA BAY FISHING CONDITIONS
EAST CAPE, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO
IN GENERAL: As expected, the school-size dorado finally made their
appearance yesterday (10/4) and most of the boats coming back to the hotels
were festooned with numerous gold dorado flags. Down south outside of Cabo
Pulmo, there was floating debris that produced some non-stop action catching
both football-sized tuna and dorado. The sailfish is still king in the
billfish department and they are fairly close in at Punta Colorada. And,
there are still plenty of roosters closer to shore.
AIR & SEA – Fri. (10/4) brought some North wind and even a bit of rain out
on the water. Conditions are best described as “unsettled,” making things a
bit uncomfortable.

· OFFSHORE: Some of the boats are still making that long ride for the
bigger tuna under the porpoise.
· INSHORE: Finally some schoolie dorado to play with; and a few
football-sized tuna as well.
· BEACH: Wave action from the wind slowed things down Fri., up until then
the roosters had been putting on a show every morning at gray light.
BILLFISH - Plenty of sailfish. They’re double the catches of blue marlin
and stripes.
YELLOWFIN TUNA - Big guys are outside under the porpoise a long way out and
the little guys are close to shore mixed in with the skipjack all the way to
Las Fralies.
DORADO - Schoolies are here. Let’s hope they stick around for a while.
ROOSTERFISH - Find the sardina (look for the pelicans diving) and the
roosters and jacks will be there.
JACK CREVALLE - Shane Ruffner, Ventura, Calif., had a 20-pounder that taught
him a lesson on an 8-weight he hooked under the bait receiver at Las Palmas.
BARRILETE OR MEXICAN SKIPJACK - Schools throughout Las Palmas Bay all the
way to Las Fralies
PARGO AND CABRILLA - Not much this week.
SIERRA - Check around any of the bait receivers.
