EAST CAPE, MAGDALENA BAY AND ZIHUATANEJO CONDITIONS
EAST CAPE, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO
IN GENERAL: As usual, as soon as the number of clients diminished, the fish
showed
up. The North wind backed off midweek and both the tuna and dorado turned
on. There were plenty of schoolies dorado to 20-pounds and lots of
football-size tuna. Back inshore,
the water began to clean up and the jacks and roosters were ready to play.

· OFFSHORE: Sailfish led the count for the billfish set with a few
stripers and blue marlin mixed in. Most of the boats are spending early
morning looking for tuna and dorado and then searching for the billfish.
· INSHORE: Began to settle down late this week and skipjack, jacks and
roosters began turn back on.
· BEACH: Look for the sardina close to shore and you can be sure the
jacks and roosters will be there as well.
BILLFISH - Still decent sailfish.
YELLOWFIN TUNA - Still being found under the porpoise way down to the south.
DORADO - Best bet is the shark buoys in front of Punta Pescadero.
ROOSTERFISH – There continue to be some quality fish near the lighthouse.
JACK CREVALLE - Still chasing the sardina near shore.
BARRILETE OR MEXICAN SKIPJACK - Plenty of schools sighted from La Ribera to
Punta Colorada.
PARGO AND CABRILLA - Rancho Leonero cove is the hot spot.
SIERRA - Plenty around the bait receivers in front of La Ribera.

IN GENERAL: So far, this has been one of our better years in terms of marlin
raised. In our first two trips we averaged over 20 events a day hooking 5/6
fish a day. Additionally, dorado, tuna, and wahoo have been found in mixed
in with the marlin.
It is seldom that we can offer a last minute opportunity for our clients to
experience this extraordinary fishery of Magdalena Bay. We have two rods
available on the Dec. 5-13 trip. Don't miss out. Give Yvonne a call at 800
919 2252. For more information visit us at

Inshore, dorado are still thick from Punta Tasco to the Thetis Bank. Wahoo
continue to show up in the pattern frequently. This is the best wahoo year
in recent memory. Up in the mangroves, corvina led the way with a strong
showing of both snook and leopard grouper.

YELLOWTAIL - Punta Hughes is producing some great results for smaller fish.
CORVINA - Mostly the smaller variety.
SNOOK - Several areas produced some good catches including Devil's Curve.
HALIBUT - Plenty at almost any of the sandy beaches or shallows in the
mangroves.
SIERRA - Strung out from Puerto San Carlos to the entrada under the bird
schools.

IN GENERAL: The rains we had for the first four days of the week had the
port closed. For this late in the year, it is unusual to get as severe of a
storm as we had. The wind moved the bluewater out past the 50 mile mark and
made fishing for the sailfish a very tough proposition. However, the heavy
runoff from the rivers carried a lot of debris, and the 20- to 25-pound
dorado fishing has been very good. Some charters, like Bud Keany from the
Chico area of California, got 5 dorado and one sailfish. They were fishing
the Fintastic Billfish Tag and Release Tournament with Capt. Javier on the
Marlin Azul, and were not even targeting the dorado.
Capt Adolpho, on the panga Dos Hermanos, in one day got 7 roosterfish to
40-pounds for his clients. He was fishing in the Troncones area.
