EAST CAPE, MAGDALENA BAY AND ZIHUATANEJO CONDITIONS
EAST CAPE, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO
IN GENERAL: Several tournaments held over the weekend with rules favoring billfish catches caused the counts to spike upward last weekend for blues and stripers. Sailfish were the only ones in which the count dropped. The tuna bite seemed to evaporate for the moment throughout the bay. Weather remained unsettled with some rain along the coast as well as up in the foothills.

· OFFSHORE: Definitely not a slam dunk. Billfish dominated the action with dorado providing enough action to keep the anglers awake.
· INSHORE: Stay out of the off-color water and pay attention. There are plenty of quality roosters and jacks to play with.
· BEACH: Still tough with the off-color water caused by runoff is making it tough this week.
BILLFISH - Plenty of volume, just no concentration. As soon as they settle down it should get interesting.
YELLOWFIN TUNA - The few found are rats.
DORADO - Some of the boats made a three hour run up toward Las Cruces
where the Sargasso has bloomed with disappointing results. It is just too much of a hit or miss deal. You are better off staying closer to the hotel.
ROOSTERFISH - Close to shore above Punta Pescadero has the best looking
conditions and has produced the best action.
JACK CREVALLE - A few under the mooring lines at all the hotels and
others strung along the color break close to shore.
BARRILETE OR MEXICAN SKIPJACK - A few small bonito and skipjack are
mixed together under the bird schools close to shore
PARGO AND CABRILLA - Rock structure from beach or boat your best shot.
SIERRA - They are still here, so much for being a winter fish. Use wire or chum flies!

IN GENERAL: Here is what our client Eric Ersch had to say about the week’s fishing: “Enrique is the most service-oriented panga guide I’ve met. From the coffee at his home in the morning, to the catch of the day filleted and delivered to the restaurant, he was great! Thank you very much for the recommendation. He said to tell Gary that we did release the 2 snook that we caught. We had alright action fishing up to Devil’s Curve, and good fishing at the Entrada. My friend got his first yellowtail on the fly there. Thanks again . .

YELLOWTAIL - The Entrada was the place and Baja Deep Diver was the fly.
CORVINA - Plenty of action throughout the bay.
SNOOK - Beginning to stir, several caught and released this week.
HALIBUT - Still there; just look for a sandy beach and use a chartreuse Clouser.
SIERRA - Check the bird schools strung out from Puerto San Carlos to the Entrada.
