Buena Vista - Saltwater Fishing Report

All hands on deck!
We are heading into the first week of May and our weather isn't the only thing that has changed. A few years back by this time of year all the fleet boats would be in the water and it would be all hands on deck.
Now it seems like we have a new norm. There is little movement in the area and just a few boats are departing each day. This morning Rancho Leonero was the only resort with a boat dock in the water. Also there are more East Cape fishing boats still in dry dock than on the water.
A few years back without reservations well in advance there was little chance of chartering a boat or getting accommodations. Now resorts sometimes fill up on weekends but unless there is a big event occupancy is lacking mid week. It is a sign of our times and yes, this is the new norm.
One thing that hasn't changed is how prolific and loaded with sea life the Sea of Cortez is. It seldom if ever disappoints. Right now conditions couldn't be better. The water is warm, seas are flat and fishing is action packed.

My favorite adult toy store.

A big part of our fleet is still in hibernation

Fish are biting.

Marlin are jumping

East Cape has become a very popular wedding destination.

That's my tale for the week
