Cabo Fishing Report December 20

Cabo San Lucas - Saltwater Fishing Report

Cabo Fishing Report, December 20

The Striped Marlin are driving anglers crazy, finicky feeders are being spotted all day long, the water temps are just not cooperating because of the multiple cold fronts moving down the Pacific. Wind conditions and current change are not providing stable enough temperatures for the Marlin to metabolize as fast as usual driving down the rate at which they can feed. Long story short the bite looks incredible with birds diving and bill fish slashing the surface, problem being is that the fish are only feeding for a matter of seconds rather than 10 to 15 minutes as usual. Vessels spend all day chasing the baitball pitching and seeing them disappear, then it pops up again. On average we are seeing 1 or 2 billfish released per charter, and are pitching bait at 20 to 30. Yellowfin Tuna are everywhere and are feeding steadily. Dorados continue to eat as well. Fast trolling lures at the end of the day has been producing Wahoo as well. Best bet for a great charter is chase the Tuna, and Dorado until everyone is worn out and the coolers are full, slip into the feeders after slack tide during the warmest time of the day and try for a marlin while fast trolling lures for Wahoo.
