HEADLINES: May 28, 2017:

The Eastcape Compound Meeting is a historic summit place of the Cabo San Lucas Marlin Mafia held at the home of kingpin Chris "the Fish Killer Golden held every year at the famous EASTCAPE Compond, known as the "Marlin house of horror" on June 20, 2016. Allegedly, the meeting was held to discuss various topics including Marlin loansharking, Channel Cat trafficking and Bluegill gambling, using nets in farmponds, along with dividing the illegal operations controlled by the great "Jerry "Crappi Face" Chapman the supposed leader of the Marlin family. With An estimated 100 Marlin Mafiosi members from the United States, Mexico, Panama, Italy, and Cuba are thought to have been at this meeting. The Boss Chapman, now head of the renamed Marlin Mafia de Cabo family, initially called the meeting as a way to recognize his new power as Boss of All Bosses.
Local and state law enforcement became suspicious when a large number of expensive cars bearing license plates from around the country arrived in what was described as "the sleepy hamlet of the Eastcape.
Chris "the Twirp" as some people call him, was seen giving baskets of Mangos and Avacados to each black Cadilac that arrived as sign of respect:, as Darrell described. Darrell went on to say I don't know these clowns that here, all I know is, JC is walking around in heaven, slapping everyone on the back as if he is some sort of God and Chris is doing everything JC says. I just wish Chris had a backbone and stop catering to that idiot JC. Darrell says: I don't know whats goin on here I wish it would just get back to normal!!! I will let you guys know next week what is happening, I really don't know yet.

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: Still about the same as last week with nice days and some wind in the afternoons and evening. We have had some very nice weather over the past week. I was out last night and we had some pretty strong north winds that were pretty cool, looks as if they were coming off the Pacific. I think in the afternoons if your fishing on the pacific side expect some rough rides as it has been blowing pretty good in the afternoons. Really as far as temperatures its been really warm in the day time with mostly sunny days and cooler evenings.

WATER: Warm water is moving into the pacific side and we think the fishing action will improve. Over the last 2 weeks there has been a huge difference in the water temperatures on the East Cape compared to closer to Cabo on the Pacific side where there is like a 10 degree difference in water. East Cape some areas are 84 degrees and here close to Cabo on the Pacific it is 74 degrees and colder in some spots, so quite the contrast and this will effect the fishing in both areas as we will be catching something completely different from them boys on the East Cape.

BILLFISH: Some nice Striped Marlin landed in the 175lb to 200lb range and that is some nice size fish. We have had days over this past week where we have landed multiple Marlin. The 1150 to about 3 miles off the arch has been really good for Marlin and using ballyhoo, live bait and lures were enticing them. The average size of marlin being caught is 90lb to 150lb which is basically the Striped Marlin average size. So no shortage of fishing action this past week with our boats doing very well on all species.

DORADO: They are starting to show up in better numbers but still nothing major yet. Really slowed down this week with some Dorado being caught inshore but they seem to be small ones. Some of the fish being caught have been 25lb to 30lb but mostly smaller ones inshore.
SWORDFISH: Havent heard of any caught this week.

WAHOO: Action for Wahoo was excellent last week. Good numbers of Wahoo landed using jet heads and marauders, with a few on live bait. At Grey Rock the fish have been really nice and in the 50lb to 70lb range with many 20 to 30lb range being landed. If you get up early and head toward Cabaza Ballena or Whales Head here in Cabo you will run into some Wahoo using mauraders inshore, in this area.

TUNA: Tuna angling has been wide open for like 3 to 4 days last week. Cedar plugs and king busters at the 95 spot was producing lots of nice fish. If you head out about 9 to 17 miles off the Light House and look for birds you mite run into some great Tun action. They don't seem to be running with the Porpoise so watch for birds. I ha friends go out and catch a 200lb Fat Tuna, what a day it was for them. Winds have scattered the Tuna schools and cooled the water down but its starting to warm again and to land Tuna you just need to go out and look for them.

INSHORE: Good action inshore all week with lots of Roosters and Sierra, even some Yellowtail being landed. The pangas have been doing well with Roosters with some nice ones being landed and ranging from 30lb to 40lbThe Rooster fishing has been going off up and around the Light Hose on the pacific.Pangas are having a pretty rough ride this week on the pacific side, but for the hardcore fisherman they love that stuff. So if your into getting wet and sloppy in a Panga head on out cause the action is good inshore. Also, some guys have been catching Skip Jack and Jack Crevail close to shore.

JC,s Seared Grilled Tuna Steaks!!
Yield:4 servings
Level:Easy
Ingredients
4 (1-inch-thick) fresh tuna steaks (about 4 pounds)
Olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Directions
To grill the tuna, get a charcoal or stove-top cast-iron grill very hot. Brush the fish with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Grill each side for only 2 to 2 1/2 minutes. The center should be raw, like sushi, or the tuna will be tough and dry. Allow to rest for 5 to 10 minutes and serve.

Salad JC,s with Seared Tuna!!
Ingredients
Vinaigrette:
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/2 lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
2 tablespoons minced fresh tarragon
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
Salad:
1 pound small red new potatoes, scrubbed and halved
8 large eggs
1/2 pound haricots verts or French green beans, stems trimmed
2 pounds fresh sushi-quality tuna
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 pint teardrop or cherry tomatoes, halved
1 cup olives
16 anchovy fillets
16 caper berries with stems
1/2 bunch fresh chives, snipped in ½

Directions
To make the vinaigrette: combine all ingredients in a mason jar. Screw the cap on the jar and shake the vinaigrette vigorously to emulsify. Set the dressing aside while preparing the salad so the flavors can marry.

Cooking the potatoes, eggs, and green beans in the same pot cuts down on prep time and clean up. To do this, put the potatoes in a large saucepan, add water to cover and a nice pinch of salt; bring to a boil over medium heat. Simmer the potatoes for 12 minutes to give them a head start, and then add the eggs. Place a steamer basket or colander on top of the simmering water. Put the green beans in the steamer and cover with a lid. Steam the beans for 5 minutes until crisp-tender while continuing to cook the potatoes until fork tender. Drain out the water and put the potatoes, eggs, and green beans in a colander; rinse briefly under cold water. Peel the shells off the eggs and cut them in 1/2 lengthwise.

Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. Rub the tuna on all sides with olive oil, and a bit of the vinaigrette; season with a fair amount of salt and pepper. Lay the tuna in the hot pan and sear for approximately 2 minutes on each side; as the tuna cooks, the red meat will become whiter. Transfer the tuna to a cutting board and slice.

To assemble the salad: combine the potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, olives, anchovies, capers, and chives in a large mixing bowl. Take the vinaigrette and give it another good shake to recombine. Drizzle the salad with enough vinaigrette to fully moisten and toss gently to coat; season with salt and pepper. Take care not to mush up the ingredients - the important thing about salad JC,s is that it is arranged nicely on a platter with all the elements keeping their individual integrity. Put the tossed salad down the center of a serving platter and lay the seared tuna attractively across the top and the eggs around the rim. Drizzle with the remaining vinaigrette and serve.

BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report. http://www.jcsportfishing.com http://youtu.be/tSXN6pifQyQ
