.
Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Lets get on with the report for this past week.
WATER: The water temperatures are starting to level off and be more consistant in most areas. Of course on the Pacific side the temps are cooler but all areas of our fishing grounds don't vary to much in water temperatures. We have mostly warm water in the area which is propelling the good fishing!!!!
WEATHER: What can I say HOT!! And typical Cabo weather with day time highs pushing 100 degrees and lows in the mid 70,s. It has been a little more humid the past week with some cloud cover making for more humid conditions but nothing we cant handle.
BILLFISHING: Totally incredible really sums it up. The fishing has really gone crazy with a week we havent seen in awhile. The fishing has been pretty good over the last few weeks but nothing like we have experienced this past week.
The fishing doesn't get much better than this all the Striped Marlin you want and even lots of big Blue Marlin ranging in size from 200lbs to 400lbs. This week has produced some of the biggest Striped Marlin I have seen in my 20 years here in Cabo with some topping the scales at 200lbs. The fish seem to be everywhere from Gordo Banks to the Golden Gate on the Pacific and are striking lures and live bait.
We had our own Bob Marlin releasing 5 Marlin this past Tuesday and then again repeating multiple Marlin hook ups during the week. Of course all Marlin we do want to Catch and Release them. We need everyone to practice this and we will have Marlin for our kids and theres. We just want the whole world to know how fantastic fishing is in Baja California Sur right now. Surely this is the best fishery in the world; year round catches incredible numbers of game fish, perfect weather and some of the best crews on the planet. We cant remember a slow week in 2013. This period was no exception with a perfect score; every boat out caught fish. This week we had a great catches of striped marlin and quite a few Blues also.
BAIT: Bait is the standard 3.00 dollars a piece and there has been plenty around:
DORADO: All species of fish this week have been producing and that means big Dorados also. The Dorado are all over the place with the best action being 4 miles off of Grey Rock up to the Light House. Lots of small Dorado being landed close to shore in Pangas. We had some great luck on the Bob Marlin with the guys out kite fishing for Tuna they also were pleased to land some big Dorados also. One of them was a 52lbs bull which was landed. Please try and practice letting the smaller Dorado go I have seen some people bringing in 4 and 5lb Dorado. I think they need to grow up a little more than that honestly. There are plenty of the larger fish to bring home with you. This is just a common sense thing when fishing and really that just isn't for here in Cabo its really something we should be practicing anywhere. We want everyone to have fun and get there limits but at the same time we need to think about conservation.

INSHORE: Good numbers of reports of Rooster Fish being caught close to shore on the Pacific side. Slow trolling in the surf line with live bait has been real effective. The Pangas were doing really good with Dorado, Marlin, Snappers and even some small Tuna. There are Groupers being caught in the rocks close to shore in 40 to 50 feet of water using cut bait.
TUNA: This week on the Bob Marlin I have friends here who are practicing kite fishing and getting ready for the Western Outdoors Tuna tournament coming up in November well they are knocking them dead with a 200lbs Tuna caught on Thursday along with 4 more ranging in size from 50 to 70lbs they were landed using plastic fly fish and they were off shore 27 miles offshore. Then after that they repeated there kite fishing bonanza with a 213lbs Tuna the next day. I cant say exactly where otherwise I would have to kill you or they would kill me!!!There are still large numbers of football size Tuna being caught. Some Tuna we located in the Porpoise schools and some we caught blind striked using cedar plugs and king busters. I don't know what to say if you like to Tuna fish you should have been here this past week. It was a week to remember with lots of huge

WAHOO: There were some Wahoo caught this past week but I did not get exact weights on the fish landed. We did not catch any Wahoo on our boats this week.
BEWARE: Remember if your not renting charter boats from companies who have been established in Cabo for the past 20 years ( Jc sport Fishing, Pisces Sport Fishing, Minervas, Redrum, Picante Fleet) you might have problems. There are many sportfishing fleets on the internet who are really not established business, who are operating illegally. Lots of these outfits are renting you a boat they have never even looked at and don't even know where you would board the boat, leaving you the task of trying to find the boat. They don't even have an office you can go and confirm your charter boat. You do not want to spend a day walking around looking for the boat and where you board. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Lots of vendors renting boats in the hotels are not reputable and don't care about your interest and care more about a commission . 75% of the Cabo Fishing websites on Google are not even in business anymore or might be just brokers who don't have an office in Cabo. Some of the Google websites are misleading and not established .Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs. You dont want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. You need to go to the fishing fleet office, while in Cabo and book your boat. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report. http://www.jcsportfishing.com http://youtu.be/Ld4X16bFT-c
