Species Highlights:

🎣 Marlin Report – 🐟

Striped marlin continue to be the dominant offshore species this week, with reliable hookups being reported 14–16 miles from the coast. Water temperatures are holding in the 71–74°F range, keeping marlin active and within reach for local crews. Both live bait and trolled lure presentations are producing, with early morning departures consistently putting anglers on fish.

Afternoon bites have also been productive captains are covering ground with a disciplined spread and finding fish in favorable surface conditions with steady currents. March is historically an excellent month for striped marlin in Cabo, and conditions this week are living up to that reputation. If billfish is on your bucket list, don't wait the window is prime right now.

⚡ Wahoo Report – 🐟

Wahoo in the 30–35 lb range have been showing up alongside marlin grounds 14–16 miles offshore , giving anglers a bonus shot at one of the ocean's fastest predators. Deep-running lures and rigged baits worked below the thermocline have been the most effective presentations. While wahoo aren't showing in massive numbers, the quality of fish landed this week has been impressive. Those willing to put in the effort and cover water are being rewarded — stay sharp and have a wahoo spread ready at all times.

🐬 Dorado Report – 🌊

Dorado in the 25–40 lb range have been a pleasant addition to the offshore mix this week, with fish being picked up alongside marlin in the same 14–16 mile zone. Trolled lures and live bait are both drawing strikes, and anglers targeting billfish are picking up quality mahi as a welcome bonus. While we're not yet seeing the full-blown dorado blitz that arrives later in the season, the fish showing up now are chunky and fighting hard. Keep an eye on floating debris and weedlines both have been productive indicators this week.

🐟 Tuna Report – 🌪️

Yellowfin tuna are being seen early in March but tend to drop off as the month progresses, so now is the time to make your move if tuna is the target. Football-sized fish have been the most common offering, with the best action found further offshore in deeper water. While not as reliable as the marlin bite right now, the tuna action has been a pleasant bonus for boats covering ground. Any warm water color change or bait concentration is worth investigating — these fish can pop up fast when conditions align.

🦄 Roosterfish Report – Inshore 🎣

Inshore fishing is heating up nicely this week, with Spanish mackerel, yellowtail, and amberjack joining the mix alongside roosterfish along the beaches and rocky points near Pedregal. March also kicks off an excellent stretch for snapper and grouper on the bottom, making inshore and reef trips a fantastic option for families or half-day adventurers. Live sardines and mullet remain the top baits for roosterfish, and the visual surface strikes in the surf zone never get old. A perfect option for those looking to stay close to shore while still getting in on fast-paced action.

Notes:

The experienced crews working out of Cabo this week are making the most of favorable offshore conditions. Striped marlin are feeding consistently and holding 14–16 miles from the coast, with quality dorado and wahoo rounding out the offshore spread. March also marks the beginning of an excellent swordfish season for those looking to target one of the most prized catches in the Sea of Cortez a unique opportunity that few other months can match.

With deep local knowledge, dialed in tactics, and cooperative fish, this is a fantastic week to be on the water in Cabo San Lucas.

Weekly Tips:

Early Departure: Getting out of the marina early remains key bait availability can be limited in March. Secure your goggle eyes and green jacks first thing, as supplies go fast during spring break season with more boats competing for the same bait.

Layer Up: Early morning departures can be chilly heading offshore, so bring a sweatshirt or light jacket for the run out. Once the sun climbs, it warms up quickly layers are your best friend this time of year.

Bait Rigging: Small to medium live baits continue to outperform on selective striped marlin. Match the bait to the conditions and let the fish tell you what they want.

Tackle Maintenance: With wahoo in the mix, make sure your wire leaders and drag systems are in top shape these fish will find every weakness in your gear.

Get ready for another incredible week on the waters of Cabo San Lucas, where the spring season is just getting started and the best is yet to come!

Remember, fishing is all about embracing the mystery and savoring the chase. Tight lines, my fellow angler! 🎣✨
