Cabo San Lucas - Saltwater Fishing Report

Sailfish Sighted south of Cabo! Exciting Catches Surge Amid Warm Waters in the High 70s! 🌊🐟🔥

Location: 1150, 95, arch, lighthouse, Sea of Cortez outside of gorda and cabrilla banks

Weather Conditions: Cabo San Lucas Weather Report and Forecast

Forecast: Expect predominantly sunny days with clear skies throughout the week.

Temperature: Expect scattered clouds and temperatures around 80°F to 85°F in Cabo San Lucas this week. 🌞🌴🎣

Wind: Over the next two weeks in Cabo San Lucas, expect variable winds with speeds ranging from 10 to 20 mph, influenced by local weather patterns and ocean currents.

Species Highlights:

Striped Marlin: The marlin bite continues with catches increasingly closer to shore. While cruising over 35 miles offshore south in search of yellowfin tuna, we also spotted numerous plentyfull striped marlin. These impressive fish were caught using a combination of lures and live bait.

Roosterfish: Bite continues with successful catches still being reported past Pedregal and the lighthouse.

Wahoo: Action Fluctuates we have experienced varying wahoo catches this week. These elusive fish have been striking deep dive lures, and our special technique involves rigging dead bait and using lures on deep planer boards. Keep an eye out for these high-speed predators!

Mahi Mahi Catches Slow, but Promising Conditions: Schools of Mahi Mahi have become scarce due to increasing winds and cooler water on the Pacific side at the end of last week. However, there's good news—the warm water is finally moving in, with satellite imaging showing sea surface temperatures in the high 70s just off Lands End. Keep your lines ready for potential action!

Tuna: This week, a couple of yachts ventured 50 to 65 miles offshore into the Sea of Cortez. They encountered a temperature break ranging from 65 to 78 degrees. Excitingly, our friends managed to catch tuna weighing between 120 and 180 lbs!

Sailfish incoming: Offshore: This week, while cruising 35 miles offshore in search of tuna, several sailfish were spotted. These acrobatic fish were seen feeding near the surface, alongside striped marlin. With current trends we expect to report catches soon.

Notes:
Marlin continues to be moderately abundant, with fewer boats heading out this time of year. They're being caught a couple of miles offshore from Cabo to the 1150 and 95 spots. Striped marlin, known for their tolerance of a range of temperatures in the 70s, are particularly active. Additionally, there are roosters, a few mahi-mahi, and tuna moving in.

The experienced crews at Fin Chaser Sportfishing are well-prepared to navigate these conditions, ensuring an exceptional fishing experience for our guests. Alongside marlin, anglers in Cabo San Lucas are enjoying excellent overall fishing conditions. Reports indicate a healthy mix of dorado (mahi-mahi), yellowfin tuna, and wahoo. The striped marlin bite remains strong, with many boats reporting successful catches and releases.
Overall, Cabo San Lucas offers thriving fishing action, making it an ideal time for both seasoned and novice anglers to embark on a memorable fishing adventure.

Weekly Tips:
Early Departure: Set off early from the Marina to get first pick at the bait it continues to be scarce plenty mullet for roosters, no mackerel, few google eyes/big eye scad (caballito), and green jacks (cocinero). Bait Rigging: Medium-sized live baits are key to enticing those elusive catches. Tackle Maintenance: Keep your gear in prime condition for the best chance at a high catch rate. Prepare for a memorable week on the waters of Cabo San Lucas, where every cast is an opportunity for an unforgettable catch. 🌊🐟✨
