Cabo San Lucas - Saltwater Fishing Report

Overall Catch Success Rate 100%
BILLFISH: We have a shorter report this week, as last week we extended it to cover the tuna tournament results, nevertheless, we again has superb catches with a total of 516 (five hundred and sixteen) striped marlin in just four days. The current striped marlin bite continues to break all records. The action was fast and furious again at Golden Gate with live bait the most effective method of getting hooked up. Bait vendors experienced a shortage of live bait towards the end of the week, but most crews found it fairly easy to locate and catch bait on the way to the fishing grounds to compensate for the lack of availability. Catches of over six marlin per boat per day were common and double digit catches were frequent. There were some outstanding catches with "Bill Collector" releasing 27 stripers on November 9th for a group from Illinois, consisting of Chris & Justin Basso, Giovanni Givitoli & Anthony Marino. On the 12th this same boat, released 24 marlin for Frank Reeves, Christian Henigan, Dave & Ryan Burrows, Richard Koors & Dave Welsh, all from Baltimore, Maryland. "El Gallo" a beautiful 61 ft Viking also did well to release 25 striped marlin for Dennis Rahlves and friends on November 9th. Top scorer of the week though was 60 ft Hatteras, "Spartacus", with 28 marlin released on November 11th, by long time client Ed Van Hook and friends from Ontario, New York. This same boat released 20 stripers the next day, this time for a group from Marshall, Texas. Eighty four percent of charters caught marlin this week and those that didn't were trying for something else. All but four fish were released and those boated ranged in size from 100 to 130 lbs.
OTHER SPECIES: After marlin the most frequently caught fish was dorado with thirty two percent of boats catching from one to fifteen fish in the 15 to 30 lb class. The majority of dorado were on the Pacific on the outer edge of the Golden Gate as well as by Gaspareņo. Both bait and lures of green varieties worked for dorado. Just a few smaller tuna were caught this week. We did see some wahoo this week, sizes between 40 and 50 lbs. inshore pangas caught roosterfish to 25 lbs, some skipjacks and the occasional striped marlin.
LOCATION: Golden Gate on the Pacific, Migriņo, Pozo de Cota.
WEATHER CONDITIONS: November is the best weather of the year. Clear, sunny skies, flat seas, perfect temperature.
AVERAGE WATER TEMP: 82 F
BEST LURES: Live bait.
