Cabo San Lucas - Saltwater Fishing Report

PISCES SPORTFISHING FLEET WEEKLY FISH REPORT
FROM MAY 8TH THROUGH MAY 14TH, 2008

Hola anglers, this week we had the IGFA/Rolex Offshore Tournament, we were much exited to see many of our friends from last year's tournament and meet some new ones.
63 Teams from 27 countries from the 6 Continents participated on this tournament, now this is not about big bucks or huge prices, this is a Champion's Tournament, to be able to participate in it, you must have won an IGFA Tournament before, of course there are really nice prizes like Rolex watches, but the biggest award to the winning team is to be the Champion of all Champions.

This tournament is about catching as many marlins as possible and releasing them all, for each marlin released, the team receives 300 points.
Here are the final results by the IGFA website:
1st Place.- Team Outdoor Channel Offshore Classic – USA
2nd Place.- Team 9th Int'l Big Game Sportfishing Tournament - Croatia
3rd Place.- Team YCSS-IMD Fishing Tournament – Italy
We were proud to have the number one boat and captain in the tournament, Julio Gonzales aboard Bill Collector, who's 12 fish day for the Australian team, shot him up to first place.
There were approximately 350 billfish released on the tournament.
As most of our boats were in the tournament, we only had 2 boats for regular charter on that week, so the number will not be great.
Overall success rate 69%, released 16 striped marlins and a pacific sailfish.
We had more Dorado and they keep coming as the water is getting warmer, we did not get much tuna, however we did catch a lot of jack crevalle.

WEATHER: Clear, sunny skies, a bit windy on the afternoon, but an average wind of 9 – 10 knots and an average temp of 77F
WATER TEMP.: 77F

LOCATION: Palmilla, San Jose, La Playita, with a few bites on Sta Maria Bay and Chileno Bay.
Best Lures: Live Bait (Caballito)

Based on the catches of Pisces Fleet by Jorge Narro in Tracy's abscence.
