Picante Sportfishing Weekly Fishing Report February 21st. to Fe

Capt. Danny Mathews
March 1, 2011
Cabo San Lucas - Saltwater Fishing Report

Our report is compiled from the catches of our fleet.
We'll update the report each week.

With "El Nino" conditions here on the Pacific Ocean the water temperature charts are providing a marbled effect and the fish seem to moving at will with the shifts in temperature. Unusual catches for this time of year are causing us all to scratch our heads in wonder.

February 23rd. was a great day again for our good friend Jim Koby and his gang fishing aboard our fast 32' Cabo Express "Picante Express" with Captain Antonio "Nino" Romero at the controls. Along with releasing a Striped Marlin they boated 10 Yellowfin Tuna to 35 lbs. GOT WASABI !!!!
Total fleet production for the day was 1 Striped Marlin and 15 Yellowfin tuna.

On February 25th. Mr. Poage and his son chartered our beautiful 40' Cabo flybridge with Captain Jaime "The Hook" Gonzalez at the controls. It was the first offshore trip for these folks and of course beginners luck took over and gave these guys a world class fishing adventure. Along with releasing 3 Striped Marlin they released a Pacific Sailfish that by all accounts should not be in our waters at this time of year. The fish was caught in 70 degree water. You just never know what will happen when you drop a line in the waters surrounding the Baja Peninsula. Total fleet production was 6 Striped
Marlin, 1 Pacific Sailfish, 18 Roosterfish and 54 Yellowfin Tuna.

February 27th. continued the recovering Striped Marlin bite as Mr. Batinovich and his friends spent the day aboard our 35' Cabo Flybridge
with Captain Pablo "Palin" Cesena at the helm. They were able to release 3 Striped Marlin for their efforts. Total fleet production was 6 Striped Marlin, 1 Yellowtail and 1 Yellowfin Tuna.
