Cabo San Lucas - Saltwater Fishing Report

The 11th Annual IGFA Offshore World Championship is now history, and after 4 days of fishing, the awards ceremony held at the Finisterra Hotel saw the top awards going to 2 teams that ended in a tie. The team from Islamorada, FL. tied with the local Cabo San Lucas team for top honors. 3 out of the top 5 Captains were Picante Captains that you can fish with any day of the week here in Cabo. Congrats go out to Captain Ivan Gomez ( CHAOS )…. Captain Antonio "Nino" Romero ( Picante Express ) and Captain Danny Carrera ( Picante 45 ).

The bite continues to be over the Gordo Banks and The 1150 Spot. The first day of the tourney Captain Antonio put his team on the fish releasing 5 Striped Marlin.
Total fleet production was 8 Striped Marlin and 12 Yellowfin Tuna.
Day 2 proved to be the best day of the week and the eventual team that tied for the championship, the Islamorada Fish Club, spent the day aboard our fast 35' Cabo named "LISTO" with Captain Gilberto Castro at the controls. With many chances to hook fish they ended up releasing 6 Striped Marlin.
Total Fleet production was 23 Striped Marlin, 3 Dorado and 4 Yellowfin Tuna.

The bite continued east of Lands End and the Stripers were being spotted in good numbers….Day 3 was again
Highlighted by our fleet with Captain Ivan Gomez aboard our 45' Cabo "CHAOS". Captain Ivan schooled his team and they ended releasing 3 Striped Marlin.
Fleet production was 20 Striped Marlin and boating a Dorado.

On Day 4 Captain Ivan on the 45' Cabo "CHAOS" bolted forward and ended the tournament as the number 2 Captain. On day 4 the crew released 6 Striped Marlin. Total fleet production was 24 Striped Marlin and 1 Dorado.
